Comfort Quilters

The Comfort Quilt Committee is a charitable project of NSQG. Meeting twice each month from September to June and weekly during the summer, members use mostly donated fabrics to make crib and lap quilts and prepare kits for quilts which members who are not able to attend meetings take home to make.

As you know, the Comfort Quilt group put together the 9 ½” blocks which the Guild members donated last summer.  When completed, they made quilts that covered eight twin beds.

One queen sized quilt was also finished from blocks that were previously made by the Guild.  A few weeks ago, six members visited the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital to present the quilts.  This is a beautiful, new facility that offers housing to those families with children in long-term hospitalization. Our quilts make the rooms cozy and warm, and were gratefully received by the executive director Karen Ryan and House Manager, Kathy Lebron.

One of our members, Dee Rizzo, has also personally donated another beautiful quilt to be used for fund raising.

Comfort Quilts will meet on:
January 16, February 6 & 20

at the North Salem Ambulance Corp
14 Daniel Road, North Salem
Hours are 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Bring your machine and your lunch and plan to spend a day making a quilt for someone in need. Everyone is welcome!
