Special Exhibits Guidelines

Northern Star Quilters’ Guild Exhibits Guidelines

Guild-Sponsored Exhibits

  • Guild Challenge – Display of quilts from the annual guild challenge. No charges are levied by the show. The quilts are not included in judging, but can be entered individually and judged in the following year.
  • SIG challenge or exhibit – Any guild sponsored special interest group can request space to display a group challenge or exhibit. Each request submitted to the Quilt Hanging Committee must include a written description or photo of the subject matter of the exhibit. There is no charge for the first panel and additional panels will be allocated based on availability of space. A fee equal to the registration fee of one large quilt will be charged for each additional panel used. The quilts are not included in judging, but can be entered individually and judged in the following year.
  • Comfort Quilts exhibit – This display is designed to highlight the charitable activities of the Guild and there is no charge associated with this exhibit. The size of the exhibit will be determined by space availability.
  • For all of the exhibits listed above, the participants will be responsible for hanging, signage and takedown of their quilts.

Special Exhibits – Non-Guild Sponsored Groups

  • Requests for space for Non-Guild Sponsored Special Exhibits may be made by any group, provided that the majority of the participants are guild members. Each request must include a written description or photo of the subject matter of the exhibit. Requests will be submitted to the Quilt Hanging Committee and presented for consideration to the Quilt Show Committee. Factors to be used in determining acceptance into the show will include space requirements, number of participating guild members, subject matter and the timeliness of the request. The quilts are not included in judging, but can be entered individually and judged in the following year.
  • A fee equal to the registration fee of two large quilts will be charged for each panel.
  • The Special Exhibits will be limited to two panels.
  • The participants will be responsible for hanging, signage and takedown of their quilts.
  • Quilts may also be registered and judged through the regular process and request that they be hung together. This method does not require the Special Exhibit procedure.

Invitationals

Individual or group exhibits are invited by the Quilt Hanging Committee, under the direction of the Quilt Show Committee. There are no charges associated with these exhibits and the quilts are not judged.
