Special Exhibit Guidelinesadmin2018-09-10T21:58:52-05:00
In the following guidelines, a “panel” generally refers to one side of a standard hanging frame – typically 8 feet by 8 feet. However, in Special Exhibits where the hanging is non-standard, the term panel will be interpreted as follows:
– Individual pieces that are three dimensional – each piece is considered a panel – Quilt that are hung on a special frame or stand – each frame or stand is considered a panel – Several quilt pieces hung on one structure/frame – each side of the structure/frame is considered a panel
The Quilt Show Committee reserves the right to make a determination of what constitutes a panel for Exhibits that are displayed using non-standard frames.
Guild Sponsored Exhibits
Guild Challenge – Display of quilts from the annual guild challenge. There are no charges associated with this Exhibit. The quilts are not included in judging, but can be entered individually and judged the following year.
SIG Challenge or Exhibit – Any guild sponsored special interest group can request space to display a group Challenge or Exhibit. Each request submitted to the Quilt Hanging Committee must include a written description or photo of the subject matter of the Exhibit. There is no charge for the first panel and additional panels will be allocated based on availability of space. A fee equal to the registration fee of one large quilt will be charged for each additional panel used. The quilts are not included in judging, but can be entered individually and judged the following year.
Comfort Quilts Exhibit – This display is designed to highlight the charitable activities of the Guild and there is no charge associated with this Exhibit. The size of the Exhibit will be determined by space availability.
For all of the Exhibits listed above, the participants will be responsible for hanging, signage and takedown of their quilts.
Invitationals – Individual or group exhibits are invited by the Quilt Hanging Committee, under the direction of the Quilt Show Committee. There are no charges associated with these exhibits and the quilts are not judged.
Non-Guild Sponsored Exhibits
FANE (FiberArt NorthEast Challenge) – FANE shall be allowed a special Exhibit based on space availability. A request for their Exhibit must be made by January 1 of the Quilt Show year and include a written description of the items and an estimate of the floor area that will be required for the display. Requests will be submitted to the Quilt Hanging Committee for approval of the requested area. Limits may be placed on the amount of area available based on overall space considerations. FANE will be responsible for hanging, signage and takedown of their quilts. A fee equal to the Guild member registration fee of one quilt will be charged for each piece displayed.
Memorial Exhibits – Individuals may make a request for a Memorial Exhibit to display the work of a former Guild member who has passed away. There is no charge for Memorial Exhibits.
Other Non-Guild Sponsored Exhibits – Requests for space for Non-Guild Sponsored Special Exhibits other than those listed above may be made by any group, provided that the majority of the participants are Guild members. Factors to be used in determining acceptance into the show will include space requirements, number of participating guild members, and subject. A fee equal to the Guild member registration fee of one quilt will be charged for each piece displayed. The quilts are not included in judging, but can be entered individually and judged the following Show year.
If approved, the organizer of the Exhibits above must submit photos of all items to be included in the Exhibit and a proposed layout of the items by April 1 of the Quilt Show year. The Quilt Hanging Committee has the authority to modify the layout and reject any quilts that it deems are not in show worthy condition. The individuals proposing the Exhibit will be responsible for hanging, signage and takedown of their quilts. These Exhibits shall be limited to two panels.
