All NSQG members are expected to contribute at least two(2) volunteer hours to support our annual Quilt Show.
Volunteers get 1 day (2hrs) or 2 days (4+hrs) free show admission.
Here are brief descriptions of the many jobs involved.

Before the Show
SATURDAY before the Show
~ Quilt Drop-Off: Examine quilts to make sure they are properly prepared for the show, check in quilts and hand out Quilt Claim Cards. (Sitting, lifting, carrying) Location info.
~ Quilt Handling: Organizing and packing quilts, loading and unloading quilts, storing and transporting quilts between drop-off day, judging day, and quilt hanging day. (Lifting, carrying)
TUESDAY before the Show
~ Quilt Handling: Unloading and loading quilts, organizing and packing quilts, storing and transporting quilts between drop-off day, judging day, and quilt hanging day. (Lifting, carrying)
~ Judging Day: Assist by holding up quilts, transcribing judges comments, and then folding and packing up quilts. (Sitting, writing, carrying)
FRIDAY before the show ~ Help from husbands, sons, daughters, and friends is very welcome!
~ Signage: Placing indoor (walking) and outdoor signs (hopping in and out of car, carrying)
~ Quilt Handling: Transporting and unloading quilts to the show early on to be ready for Quilt Hanging. (Lifting, carrying)
~ Quilt Hanging: Holding and carrying sometimes heavy quilts and supervising provided helpers who will be climbing the ladders. (Some student muscle for ladders, lifting, carrying)
~ Quilt Cards and Ribbons: Attach description cards and ribbons to the hanging quilts
~ Vendor Assistants: Vendors arrive. “Direct” them to their area and keep the flow organized and activity safe. (Walking)
~ Table Assistants: Preparing tables for assorted NSQG needs, eg, admissions, information, raffles, pins, other guild sales… (Carrying)
At the Show
Admissions: Assist at ticket booth, greeting guests, selling and verifying tickets. Direct guests to quilts, vendors, bathrooms. (Sitting) First impressions are the most lasting….
Welcome Buses: Meet buses and provide them with show tickets, info, and any gift bags. (Sitting, walking) Again, first impressions are the most lasting….
Information Desk: Provide information and answer guests’ questions about show activities and the guild. Make announcements over the PA system. Take in and return items for package minding. (Sitting)
Raffle Tickets and Show Pin Sales: Collect payments and assist with filling out raffle tickets and answer questions about the charity. Help sell our collectible show pins. (Sitting)
Other Guild Fundraisers and Activities: Assist with any other fund raising tables and activities, eg. library book sales, quilt sales, basket raffles, machine raffle. (Sitting, standing, carrying).
Lecture Assistant: Two volunteers are needed for each guest lecturer to hold up quilts, pass around quilts and help with any speaker item sales before/after the lecture (Standing, carrying)
Treasurer Assistant: Distribute and collect money for the various NSQG tables, assist with credit card purchases. (Walking, sitting)
After the Show
SUNDAY end of show ~ Help from husbands, sons, daughters, and friends is very welcome!
~ Signage: Taking down indoor (standing) and outdoor signs (hopping in and out of car)
~ Quilt Take-down: Remove quilts in an orderly manner, fold and sort on tables, collect description cards and ribbons (Possibly some ladder climbing, lifting, carrying)
~ Quilt Return: Help return quilts to their owners, match quilt claim cards with quilts and hand out judges’ comments. (Standing, sitting, carrying)
~ Rod Collecting: Take down quilt rods and hangers for return to guild storage. (Lifting, carrying).
~ Rental Equipment Cleanup: Help collect rental pipes and drapes and tables (Lifting, carrying)
~ Floor Covering Cleanup: Untape and help roll up the vinyl floor coverings (Lifting, carrying, last to leave)
