All NSQG members are expected to contribute at least two(2) volunteer hours to support our annual Quilt Show. Here are brief job descriptions.

Before the Show
SATURDAY before the Show
~ Quilt Drop-Off: Examine quilts to make sure they are properly prepared for the show, check in quilts and hand out Quilt Claim Cards. (Sitting, lifting, carrying) Location info. ~ Quilt Handling: Organizing and packing quilts, loading and unloading quilts, storing and transporting quilts between drop-off day, judging day, and quilt hanging day. (Lifting, carrying)
TUESDAY before the Show ~ Quilt Handling: Unloading and loading quilts, organizing and packing quilts, storing and transporting quilts between drop-off day, judging day, and quilt hanging day. (Lifting, carrying) ~ Judging Day: Assist by holding up quilts, transcribing judges comments, and then folding and packing up quilts, 4 hour slots. (Sitting, writing, carrying) Location info.
FRIDAY before the show ~ Help from husbands, sons, daughters, and friends is very welcome!
~ Signage: Placing indoor (walking) and outdoor signs (hopping in and out of car, carrying) ~ Quilt Handling: Transporting and unloading quilts to the show early on to be ready for Quilt Hanging. (Lifting, carrying) ~ Drape Hanging: Frames are set up by vendor. We need to hang our muslin drapes on the pipes. Work involves lifting drapes and possibly some ladder climbing. (Student muscle for ladders, lifting, carrying) ~ Quilt Hanging: Holding and carrying sometimes heavy quilts and supervising provided helpers who will be climbing the ladders, 4 hour slots. (Student muscle for ladders, lifting, carrying) ~ Vendor Assistants: Vendors arrive. “Direct” them to their area and keep the flow organized and activity safe. (Walking) ~ Table Assistants: Preparing tables for assorted NSQG needs (carrying)
At the Show
Admissions: Assist at ticket booth checking in guests and handing out Quilt Show Booklets. Direct guests to quilts, vendors, bathrooms. (Sitting) First impressions are the most lasting….
Welcome Buses: Meet buses and provide them with show tickets, info, and gift bags. (Sitting, walking)Again, first impressions are the most lasting….
Information Desk: Provide information and answer questions on show activities from guests. Make announcements over the PA system. Take in and return items at the package drop-off and pick-up table. (Sitting)
Raffle Tickets and Show Pin Sales: Collect money for and assist with filling out raffle tickets and answer questions about the charity. Also help sell our unique Show Pin. (Sitting)
Silent Auction and Other Sale Items: Assist at bidding table as guests bid on Silent Auction quilts and with any other NSQG sale items. (Sitting, final shift-carrying)
Library and CQ Quilt Kits: Assist with books sales at the Library tables (sitting,standing) and with quilt kits sales at the Comfort Quilt tables (Sitting).
Lecture Assistant: Two volunteers are needed for each guest lecturer to hold up quilts, pass around quilts or help sell books before/after the lecture (Standing, carrying)
Treasury Assistant: Collect and distribute money, assist with credit card purchases. (Walking, sitting)
After the Show
SUNDAY end of show ~ Help from husbands, sons, daughters, and friends is very welcome!
~ Signage: Taking down indoor (standing) and outdoor signs (hopping in and out of car) ~ Quilt Take-down: Remove quilts in an orderly manner, fold and sort on tables. (Possibly some ladder climbing, lifting, carrying) ~ Quilt Return: Help return quilts to their owners, match quilt claim cards with quilts and hand out judges’ comments. (Standing, sitting, carrying) ~ Drape Take-down: Remove muslin drapes from the pipe frames and fold for storage. (Possibly some ladder climbing, lifting, carrying). ~ Pipe Take-down: Remove pipes from frames along with any hangers and sort for storage. (Possibly some ladder climbing, lifting, carrying) ~ Final cleanup: Help collect and put away any remaining guild equipment. (Lifting, carrying, last to leave)
