President’s Message – 12/25

2025-12-02T15:37:58-05:00Member Showcase, President's Message|

As I sit here early on Thanksgiving morning, I realize that one of the things I am most thankful for this year is this wonderful guild that has provided me with decades of learning, inspiration and most of all friendship with the incredible people in our guild!

Our November meeting was well attended and I offer thanks to all who organized and participated in our Batik sale!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Katie O’Brien for the energy and enthusiasm she brought to her very short tenure as our Program Chair and announce that Betty Moulton and Kathy Tuttle have volunteered to co Chair this important Committee.

Remember that this meeting will begin at 6:30 pm since we want to give plenty of time for you to shop at the Holiday Boutique!
Note that we will not have time for show and tell or the free table this month; we will still have our monthly table raffle.
Finally, since this will be our last in-person meeting of the year, please bring a Holiday treat to share!

Looking forward to seeing you all!

President’s Message – 11/25

2025-11-01T07:42:03-04:00Member Showcase, President's Message|

Happy Fall! While I enjoy the warmth of the Summer, I find myself looking forward to the beauty and cooler temperatures of the Fall season. It seems to rejuvenate my quilting spirit as well and I find myself finishing works in progress and beginning new projects! Our class and special event offerings will give us all many projects to choose from! Enjoy this season!

For those who were not at our October Meeting and have not heard it from the grapevine, a task force was created to see if we could overcome the financial and logistical issues related to our current quilt show.  It was decided to cancel  the May 2026 show, partly due to the new AQS show in Hartford a few weeks before ours along with the increasing venue costs and decreasing revenue.  The task force will continue to meet monthly and investigate new alternatives.  We plan to provide updates on a monthly basis as we have info to offer.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who provided input at the guild meeting.  Please keep the ideas coming!

President’s Message – 10/25

2025-10-02T10:04:32-04:00Member Showcase, President's Message|

WOW! What a great turnout for the first meeting of our new year! The room was filled with enthusiasm and lots of diverse ways to share this wonderful art form we all love! It was good to see current members, new members and some returning members many whom shared their latest creations in our show and tell!

All of our year long activities lead up to our Quilt Show which I know many of you have asked about. Please know that we have some challenges this year to overcome and it is our intention to update you at our October meeting.

President’s Message – 09/25

Mary and I would like to welcome you back to our first meeting of the 2025 – 2026 year! We hope that you had a wonderful summer and spent some quality time quilting! My summer was full of travel and just so I wouldn’t miss quilting, I brought my Featherweight with me on our annual family beach vacation!

We are excited with the array of programs that will be offered this year and invite you to participate in them, as well as joining us for a few new get-togethers.  We are hopeful that you will not only participate in an activity but also volunteer and assist with some of our activities.  As you know, it takes many people to pull this all together so why not start off the year by helping in whatever way you have the time or interest to do?  This is a great way for our new members to get to know others!

Looking forward to seeing you on September 17th!

2025  Winners List

Best in Show (large) – Kacie Grossman

Best in Show (small) – Diana Sharkey

This is our final newsletter as your presidents. We can’t believe that two years have gone by.  Along with the work, we have made many new friends and have had many good times. We hope you have enjoyed all the many guild activities as much as we have.

We truly had an incredible board.  Each person put forth tremendous efforts and added so much to the success of our guild. We are grateful for all their hard work. A big thank you must also go to you, our members.  Your support of our activities made our efforts all worthwhile.

Please join us on Wednesday, June 18th, for our Salad Pot Luck Supper at 6pm.  For our new members: everyone brings a dish to share that will feed 6-8 people. We are looking forward to having some of our members showcase small projects that they have made.  There will be instructions available for those who would like to make these at home.

JUST A FINAL REMINDER: IF YOU ARE THINKING OF JOINING US FOR THE LANCASTER TRIP, FINAL DEADLINE FOR SIGNUPS IS JUNE 30TH!

We want to wish your new board, led by Joanne Hochstein and Mary Rossetti, a wonderful year ahead.

Sheryl and Helen, president@northernstarquilters.com

NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING – MAY 21, 2025

2025-26 Board Nominees Bios

As we write this everyone is gearing up for World of Quilts XLIV.   Looking forward to seeing you there. Thanks to all who are helping to make it the wonderful show it always is!

Our May meeting is in-person as usual.   It is the annual meeting and we will be electing the 2025-26 board members.  This month’s entertainment will be our Fabulous Fabric Auction.  Don’t forget your cash or checks!  There are going to be great bargains and as usual we expect a real fun evening.

Rona Spar has done a great job in planning an exciting event for our salad supper.  Stay tuned for more information at the meeting.

There are still a few seats open in Sue Benner’s workshop.  We expect it will be filled at the Show because it is now open to non-members.  Don’t miss the opportunity to take a class with this fabulous quilter, sign up immediately!

You all should have received your membership survey.  Please fill it out.  Your input will help make a guild that meets your needs!

See you soon!
