Comfort Quilters December 2017 Meeting – photo thanks to Rona Spar and Barbara Powers
Comfort Quilts – 184 quilts have been donated by NSQG since September, 2017. Forty-five of those quilts have been devotedly overseen by Barbara Powers for the children at the Behavioral Center. During a low point in their lives, these children will be able to curl up with a quilt and a tissue holder especially made by Patricia Loquet as they gather for movie and quilt night on Christmas Eve.
Raffle Charity Nomination – Do you have a 501c3 charity you would like the guild to sponsor at our 2019 Quilt Show? Applications can be submitted to Althea Nolan. The forms and needed information can be found here or via the website or you can contact Althea, charitable@northernstarquilters.com

Kit Parade – Every year, Comfort Quilts has a Summer Project. This summer each participating quilter was supplied with one of the famous Comfort Quilts Kits made by Carol Auer and Karen Carlson. Winners of the Winner’s Choice Raffle get to select from the many quilts that will be exhibited on the Cafeteria Wall at our October Guild meeting. The more tickets that are sold, the more quilts will be raffled. You may be one of the lucky winners who not only wins a quilt, but also supports the many NSQG charitable activities.
For twenty years, Barbara Powers has been the coordinator for quilts that are distributed to the Behavioral Health Center. This September’s distribution will include the 1,000th quilt delivered to this small hospital which sits on the grounds of Westchester County Medical Center. Here children between the ages of 4 to 18 with mental illness are treated. Our quilts are well received and are among the few possessions owned by these children. Congratulations to Barbara and to the talent and generosity of the Comfort Quilters and Guild members who make this contribution a reality.
