Thanks to our many generous members who have donated fabric or made quilts, NSQG has distributed 258 comfort quilts as of December 31, 2018. Among those who received some comfort are 14 quilts to Blythedale Hospital, 17 to Putnam/N.Westchester Women’s Resource Center, 24 to Kids in Crisis, 13 to Pleasantville Cottage School, 25 to Ossining Children’s Center, 13 to Maria Ferrari NICU, as well as to many individuals.
A few submission reminders:
April Russell will be at the back of the cafeteria for the Quilt Challenge Collection!
– Make sure your name is on the back of the quilt. If the quilt itself has a name, please include that as well.
– Make sure your quilt has a sleeve which is necessary for hanging at the show.
– Bring a wire hanger to be used for the March meeting display.
– Return any unused challenge fabric to be used for ribbons.
– If unable to attend the meeting or use the buddy system to turn in your quilt, please contact April Russell, email@example.com.
This year for the Silent Auction, we are increasing the maximum perimeter size to 200 inches. This allows for crib quilts and table runners as well as the usual wall quilts. We will be collecting Silent Auction pieces at the Guild meetings.
We are also collecting fat quarters to create ‘Fat Quarter Frenzy’ Raffle Baskets to be included in the Silent Auction. Please bring in any unwanted fat quarters for us to begin to build our Baskets.
NEW CATEGORY: MODERN QUILTS We will have a new category added to the roster for our show: MODERN QUILTS. We have defined a MODERN QUILT as follows: Modern quilts are inspired by modern design. They include: bold colors, minimalism, asymmetrical design, expansive negative space, alternate grid work, improvisational piecing and/or solid fabrics. Your modern quilt entry need not be quilted by the maker. As always, we will be reviewing the entries carefully to ensure all quilts are in the proper categories. We would love to have a nice offering of modern quilts this year to enhance our show! –
Quilt registration opened on January 15th. The fees this year are a bit different: your 1st quilt entered is $15 and $10 each for your 2nd & 3rd quilt entries. The 4th quilt is free to enter; we will evaluate space once all entries are received to see how many 4th quilt entries we will be able to accommodate for the show. –
EXHIBITED QUILTS FOR SALE
We are offering an option for your exhibited quilt to be FOR SALE at the Show. When registering your quilt entries online, there is an option if you wish to offer your quilt for sale. This is only an OPTION, of course. You do not need to list your quilt for sale to be in the show. If you do wish to sell your quilt, you will be asked for a SALE price when registering. NSQG will retail a 10% commission on the sale of the quilt, and we will also collect Connecticut sales tax, so bear that in mind when setting your price.
