All Ruby Challenge entries are due at the February Meeting.

A few submission reminders:
April Russell will be at the back of the cafeteria for the Quilt Challenge Collection!
– Make sure your name is on the back of the quilt.  If the quilt itself has a name, please include that as well.
– Make sure your quilt has a sleeve which is necessary for hanging at the show.
– Bring a wire hanger to be used for the March meeting display.
– Return any unused challenge fabric to be used for ribbons.
– If unable to attend the meeting or use the buddy system to turn in your quilt, please contact April Russell, kadidty@gmail.com.

Holiday Boutique – Come early (6pm) to buy some special treats for the holidays!
The Boutique will be located near the Guild library table outside the auditorium.

-Some of the offerings include vintage buttons, vintage handkerchiefs, textiles, quilting books and jeans bags.
– Comfort Quilts will have a fantastic selection of Fat Quarters at an unbeatable price, 2 for $1, as well as XMAS FQ’s and donated notions.

Remember to bring your checkbook so that you can sign up for the Lancaster Trip which is on March 29^th and 30^th.   Super Saturday is on February 16^th.  More details on both of these events will be presented at the meeting.

We are looking for volunteers to teach at various tables for the “Tips and Techniques”  demo meeting in February. Please contact me if you would like to share an interesting or time saving idea that works for you.
I am also hoping to have a new table geared towards young adults that is  “Quilting for Beginners” to get a new generation involved.

2)  Please contribute to the annual Food Drive as you come into the meeting by bringing non-perishable foods, gifts cards, or monetary contributions.

Winner’s Choice – The many colorful and beautiful jelly roll quilts from the Comfort Quilts Summer Project were received with great enthusiasm by the Guild Members. Comfort Quilts was able to raise $315.00 for the Guild. The three winners are:

2nd winner Ashley Mackey — quilt made by Chris Roche
3rd winner Dee Plouffe – ——quilt made by Daisy Dodge

  Raffle Tickets – Tickets for the 2019 grand prize quilt, Jack’s Chain, will be available at the November Guild Meeting. Please pick up your Raffle Ticket Packet and support this year’s nominated charity La Dulce Esperanza, a summer camp for the children of migrant workers.

For the October 17th workshop Carol Lynch will be teaching “Mini Mosaics”. The workshop will be $50 and the kit fee $20.  The kit contains assorted patterns plus the fabric cut and ready to go!

 Roll Your Own – Every year, Comfort Quilts has a Summer Project. This year Carol Auer and Karen Carlson created jelly rolls of our favorite colors to be transformed into beautiful quilts. At our October meeting you may be one of the lucky members who gets to select from the many quilts created as part of the “Roll Your Own Project” by taking a chance on the Winner’s Choice Raffle. Winners can select as their prize any of the quilts that are exhibited on the wall in the cafeteria . The more tickets that are sold the more quilts will be raffled. Proceeds go to support the Guild and its activities. Raffle tickets will be 1 for $1 or 10 for $5.

Comfort Quilts – Last guild year 295 quilts were distributed to give comfort to those in need. Sixty-five quilts have been distributed this year as of September 25, 2018. This is possible thanks to the helping hands of so many of our members.

2020 Charity Quilt –  Remember to return the log cabin blocks at the October meeting.

Welcome back! As you may remember, each month a select group of members is asked to provide snacks to add to the hospitality table. Hospitality will provide tea, coffee, and water, as well as plates, napkins, and cutlery. For September, we ask the members whose last names begin with A and B to bring in a snack for the meeting. This represents about 20 members bringing snacks for the group. We would suggest snacks like pre-cut fruit, cake, cookies, cheese and crackers, or vegetables. Thanks so much for planning ahead!

 Jack’s Chain:  Mary Cannizzaro, our Raffle Coordinator, will be unveiling our exquisite charity quilt for the 2019 Quilt Show at the September Guild Meeting. This year will be a special time since we will be celebrating the Guild’s 40th anniversary.
Also at the September meeting, Mary will be raffling the Table Runner that was exhibited as a model of the charity quilt. Members eligible for this prize are those that worked on the quilt, about 50 members.

Comfort Quilts Winter Schedule at North Salem has started.
All Guild members, novices to experts, are invited to join Comfort Quilts. While making attractive quilts to donate to those needing comfort, you will have the opportunity to work alongside other quilters, get help and even inspiration.

  2020 Show Charity Raffle Quilt:  Pat Julian, the raffle quilt coordinator, will be giving out 120 block kits for the quilt. If you would like to be a part of this project, pick up a kit or two of these log cabin blocks and return them at the October Guild meeting.

Sunshine/Thank You Notes – The Guild always likes to reach out to members with a get-well or sympathy card when it would be welcome and to acknowledge donations and gifts with a letter of thanks.  Please let me know if there is a member in need of a little Sunshine or a note of appreciation.

Charity – $3,000 was awarded to our 2018 Charity, Emergency Shelter Partnership, a not-for-profit organization that provides short-term emergency shelter and food for those in need of a safe and warm haven during the coldest five months of winter. This donation was made possible thanks to all who purchased raffle tickets and to sponsoring member Linda Stern.

2020 Charity Quilt – Thanks to all who brought blue and yellow fabrics for Pat Julian, our Raffle Quilt Coordinator for the 2020 show quilt.

Section available to members (one notice per year) for posting personal quilt related offerings.

June Salad Supper starts at 6pm! All members are asked to contribute by bringing some type of salad (about enough to share with six members). Any kind of salad is great: fruit, vegetable, meat or beans, or  just your favorite summer recipe. Please provide a small card with an ingredient list to put beside the salad to help members who might need to avoid particular food items. Thanks!

Comfort Quilts Meetings – Starting on Wednesday June 6th, Comfort Quilts will be meeting according to its Summer Schedule, every Wednesday (not July 4th) at:  Bnai Israel Temple, 2 Banksville Road, Armonk, NY.  All guild members are welcome, so consider joining the fun! We make lap-size quilts for hospitals, shelters, fund raisers and individuals in need of comfort. Meetings are held between 9:30 and 3:30. You can stay for all or part of the day. Bring your sewing machine and your lunch. Fabric, batting and other quilting tools are available for your use.
Check with Carol Auer or Karen Carlson for information or any possible cancellations.

Comfort Quilts Summer Surprise Project – Our summer project will be available once we meet in Armonk.  If interested in participating even if not attending CQ meetings, contact Karen Carlson or Carol Auer.

Raffle Quilt Prizes – Thank you to all the members who supported our 2018 charity Emergency Shelter Partnership by buying our raffle tickets. Since our May Guild Meeting was cancelled because of the storm, we will be having our raffle drawing at our June Salad Supper.

Comfort Quilts Show Kits – During the 2018 Quilt Show, Comfort Quilters raised $1,360 by the sale of special boutique kits, monies help support our Guild activities.  Kudos to Carol Auer and Karen Carlson, who create these popular kits from fabric donated to Comfort Quilts.

Comfort Quilt Donation Kits – Kathy Keane will have CQ Kits that you can work on during the summer. This past year, we have donated 275 quilts to give comfort to those in need.  Pick up a quilt kit and help to continue our charity work.

It’s time to sign up for 2018/2019.  Bring a $45 check with you to the June meeting and be sure to fill out the Registration Form.  If you sign up before September 1st, you will be eligible for a drawing for a $25 Gift Certificate for all Guild programs. We are also offering a registration card that you can use for a discount at fabric store.

The Library Book Sale was a success thanks to the generous donations from our members and their friends.  Also, deepest gratitude and appreciation to all the volunteers for your time and assistance with the Library Book Sale at the Quilt Show. 

For the June 19 Salad Supper meeting, please return all outstanding books, magazines, and DVDs.  An inventory of our library will occur over the summer.  The library will not be lending out books for the summer.

Comfort Quilts – Thanks to all who answered the call to make Comfort Quilts for those in need. Your quilts are greatly appreciated.

2019 Charity – Dulce Esperanza Camp will be our charity at the 2019 Quilt Show. The summer camp. run by the Warwick Area Migrant Committee, provides about 100 children with a 7 week program to accommodate the parents who work long hours during the growing season. Established in 1959, this nondenominational organization provides activities in dance and art classes, horticulture and gardening, technology , reading and writing workshops, sports, demonstrations and Field trips. The programs have been designed to offer enrichment activities not typically available to the children. In addition, the camp offers Summer Teaching Internships for Education Majors to lead classroom activities. The camp relies on donations and the money goes directly to serve the children with programs that have a positive impact on their lives. Click on address to get web site – https://wafarmworkers.org

Dulce Esperanza Camp is the only application received by the March deadline. Therefore according to the bylaws, voting by the membership is not necessary.

We’re counting down the days! The quilts have been dropped off and they are spectacular!

Please note: If you have received a voucher to enter the show for free because you have fulfilled volunteer hours, you must have it to enter.  The box office is managed by WCSU, not the guild. No voucher = you pay the entrance fee.

We are so appreciative of everyone who has worked on the show – it has proven the adage that if you want something done, ask busy women!

Remember to turn in your raffle tickets, stock up at the Library bargain book table, buy a special Comfort Quilt kit for your own use, bid on your favorite Silent Auction offering, get a show pin, visit the exhibits, see the demos, hear the lecture, shop at all the vendors, and enjoy all the quilts, quilts, quilts!
